Laying Hens
When we first started with hens we like many people wanted specific breeds. Our plans quickly took a turn, which originally went against Jessica's plan of having pedigreed, and purebred animals...
We were given a mixed rooster, (we still have no idea what he was) and when combined with several broody hens...
Some of our original full sized hens were Ameracauna's, Buff Orpingtons, NH Reds, White Leghorns, Barred Rocks, Speckled Sussex & Wyandottes. We also had a variety of bantam breeds.
We have unofficially named our chickens "Shady Chickens"
It just sounds better than "mutts" , which is what they truly are, and
we are not embarrassed to say that.
Our hens lay brown, green and blue eggs. They are a medium size bird. Which makes them not the best for dual purpose.
Our chickens are not for everyone, especially those that want a
specific breed, or color etc..
For those that truly want mixed breed hens, that lay a nice medium/large egg,
our ladies do that!
We offer fertilized eggs for those that want to hatch their own.
We also hatch chicks every spring.

We will not guarantee what color your chickens will be or the
color of the eggs they will lay.
